Seasonal Opportunities

Sundays February 21 - March 21

8:00 a.m. - Lenten Bible Study with Lois

Join the Rev. Lois Keen for a look at the Temptation of Christ (February 21) and the four Passion Narratives in Mark (February 21), Matthew (March 7), Luke (March 14), and John (March 21).

Tuesdays February 23 - March 23

6:30 p.m. - Looking at the Radical Jesus

After a simple supper at 6:30, we will discuss some of Jesus’ sayings, share what we think his words could mean for us today, and, perhaps, find courage to live more radical lives.  The five themes for the sessions are The Sermon on the Mount, Upsetting the Hierarchy, Jesus' Relationship with Women, The Androgynous Jesus, and Summary and Conclusions.

Presenter Pat Spoor has a 30-year teaching career. She was a lay pastor and educator at St. Timothy's Church in Fairfield from 1994-2000 and for the past several years has been a popular Facilitator of Lifetime Learners Institute courses.

Sundays February 28 - March 14

Noon - A People's History of Christianity

The tale of Western Christianity's triumphal spread has largely failed to speak to contemporary Christians' longing for spiritual inspiration, the stories that strengthen our connection with God and with our neighbors.  There is an almost forgotten story of folks like us who struggled to live as Jesus told them to, loving God and doing what is right.  It is a story of a Christianity that transforms the world, seeding the human community with grace.

Bring a sandwich and join Jeff Harre in an exploration of Diana Butler Bass' A People's History of Christianity.  Phone the office at 203-866-5454 to order Bass's book, or purchase it yourself.
